1.) My host company is Edw C Levy Co! <\/b>We sell rocks! While construction supplies may not\u00a0seem like a\u00a0sexy industry for a girl with an art degree, my work as their eLearning Designer is a\u00a0perfect blend of 2 of my passions- art and education.\u00a0It\u00a0is also rich in Detroit history. In fact, the company began with a handshake between Henry Ford and Edward C Levy back in 1918, when Mr. Levy had an idea to reuse the slag, or by-product, of the steel mill here in town. Mr. Ford agreed and thus was born Edw C Levy Co and the legacy of hard working, long standing employees that stretch the country.<\/p>\n

2.)<\/b>I’m a foodie! <\/b>I can’t help it! I grew up watching the Food Network and learned how to cook, bake and garden at an early age. Family meals were a big deal and I have this weird childhood memory of always having some sort of baked good on the counter. So when I moved away from rural Ohio, discovering new restaurants and cultures (well, new to me<\/i>) in these big cities, food become a pretty fun adventure.<\/p>\n

3.) I love plants! <\/b>This one is also rooted in childhood. Plants are great! They are low maintenance; they are quiet and don’t have to go on walks; they are good for the environment and help keep your home air healthy. Once you get a plant, you have it forever… Unless you kill it.<\/p>\n

4.) I have a guilty pleasure called pizza and ice cream…<\/b>I had no idea I loved these two things so much until I moved to Detroit. I eat it once a week! At least! \u00a0So maybe the ice cream happens more than once a week. Okay, maybe, I love them to an unhealthy amount, but that’s why I titled this one guilty pleasure.<\/p>\n

5.) I love Detroit! <\/b>I have lived in the city for a year now and I Iove it! It’s rich in history and culture, food and art. It really is a great place to live. There is a t-shirt company called Reddish Printing<\/a> in Toledo that has this awesome slogin called “Boring People Hate Toledo.” And I love it because it’s true! It’s also true about Detroit. It is all about perspective. Every place has its beauties and its quirks that make it great; it’s our mission to be awesome and embrace those things. It\u2019s when we fail to recognize these beauties that we begin to label things with harsh words.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
