It’s amazing how so much of life’s lessons can be directly extracted from sports. A game has halves, periods, and quarters to compartmentalize the time of a full game. This\u00a0fellowship is the same.<\/p>\n

In a game, the first quarter is an interesting one. It’s high with built up emotion and anxiety. Right before the game starts, you think about the preparation: Did I give all my effort? Did I cheat myself or my team? Am I ready for this moment? Then…the game starts. You’re feeling out your opponent, seeing if they’re giving you what you’ve studied on film. You find yourself using too much energy or not enough. You’re getting into a groove.<\/p>\n

The first quarter of this fellowship was all of that and everything. I was very anxious before this fellowship started. The process from February to September was a long, but productive, one. I questioned if I was ready for the moment, I questioned if I was letting this pass me by or if I was taking full advantage. All of those questions ran through my mind, but I was able to answer them with a confident ‘yes’.<\/p>\n

This first quarter of the fellowship has been me feeling things out and taking advantage of the opportunity. I am currently a project lead for our second challenge, I spoke at our Year 3 Kickoff Event, and i’m on the recruiting team. Not only have I been challenge Detroit, i’ve been challenging myself to become better. Now that i’m in the groove, I plan to increase my play in the second quarter.<\/p>\n
