Holding on tightly as I hung out my Dad\u2019s passenger side window as he speed through New York City I took this picture.<\/p>\n

The shot above was incredibly lucky. The way the bridge carries you through the frame and how the man with his bike gives you a sense of small he is compared to his everything else make this somewhat of a decent picture. Yet back when I was in high school and randomly started taking pictures on a family vacation to New York City, I thought I was urban version of Ansel Adams. Not really, since I had no clue who Ansel Adams was.<\/p>\n

Yet that picture was a start. A start of a hobby. A start of a passion. A start of seeing the world a little bit differently. Since that picture, photography has been a place where the world slows down for a moment and everything seems a bit clearer.<\/p>\n

As I have transitioned into Detroit life, with a new job, new friends, and new opportunities I spent time to do real photography in my new city. I promised myself I would take an hour to shoot around downtown. That one hour quickly turned into four.<\/p>\n

In those four hours, some of it actually taking pictures and some of it just taking the city in, I realized how beautiful the city is and how lucky I am to being living here. I had a friend from Chicago recently ask me what\u2019s in Detroit and why I would move there. I think sometimes words just don\u2019t work, and sometimes pictures actually do it justice.<\/p>\n
