When thinking about the \u201cPlay\u201d pillar of Challenge Detroit, I am immediately reminded of the Rothschild family and their wine.<\/p>\n
The Rothschild\u2019s are known for many things.\u00a0 Fine wine is one of them.\u00a0 When a man asked them to recommend their favorite wine, the father replied with a short story.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe were on vacation with family and friends,\u201d began the father.\u00a0 \u201cWe took a hike up the mountains, and just as the sun was setting, we popped open my favorite bottle of wine.\u201d<\/p>\n
There was a long pause and the man\u2019s face turned from excitement to confusion. \u201cSo what was your favorite bottle of wine!\u201d he demanded.<\/p>\n
The father replied, \u201cYou missed the point. It\u2019s not about the wine you drink, it\u2019s about the company you\u2019re in.\u201d<\/p>\n
As a Challenge Detroit Fellow, I\u2019m lucky to be surrounded with positive people who not only want to work hard, but also want to play hard.<\/p>\n
Detroit is a city filled with negative stereotypes. If you can\u2019t see past them, you won\u2019t experience all that this place has to offer.\u00a0 There are good bars here.\u00a0 There are good concerts here.\u00a0 There is amazing art here.\u00a0 But you have to be willing to explore it.<\/p>\n
So yes \u2013 you can buy the most expensive bottle of wine if you desire.\u00a0 Or, you can plant the seeds, harvest the grapes, and let the juices ferment.\u00a0 I\u2019m sure the latter glass will be more fulfilling.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
