Despite the negative press, Detroit is one of the top 5 places that I would start a family. I mean, there\u2019s so much to discover and experience; I\u2019d be remiss to surrender my life\u2019s milestone to another city.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Q: What have you learned about Detroit that\u2019s unique?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A: What I\u2019ve discovered about Detroit is that people aren\u2019t afraid of exploring the next great thing! Groups and organizations have sprung up throughout Detroit to meet the social and cultural needs of the community. For example, I joined a group called Detroit Bike &amp; Brunch. And, we do just that; bike to a local restaurant and eat! It is a fantastic way to meet new people, get some exercise and eat some amazing food.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Q: How do you answer tough questions about living in the city?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A: Speaking of food, one of the commonly asked questions that people ask me is \u201cWhere do you shop for groceries?\u201d Truthfully, I have access to healthy, quality food. I\u2019m within walking distance of the Eastern Market, and if I can\u2019t find what I need there, I shop at the small grocer less than 500 yards from my apartment. In addition, I am within a one mile radius of dozens of Yelp!-recommended restaurants and bars. I can\u2019t complain.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Q: Anything else you want to share with us about city living?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A: Since the start of Challenge Detroit, I\u2019m living like the Jeffersons\u2019. I moved on up, to the eastside of Detroit, with my deluxe apartment in the sky. Oh yes! I have a brand new appreciation for the city that raised me.
