The value of education can mean different things to different people. To some people, value may mean how much they can earn. Others may see the value of education as the amount of job opportunities they will have after graduation. Personally I do agree common opinion however, education is valued at knowing that there is a level of sound understanding, knowledge, leadership and the reassurance of completing a task from start to finish. Education also offers social benefits you may get from having an education. I also believe that the value of education increases with time and practical experiences. Throughout my personal educational endeavours there were several instances, where I questioned the relevance of information being taught to me. Overtime, I learned that those irrelevant experiences were necessary achieving a broader view on situations and to think critically before responding.

Education can also instill an entrepreneurial spirit while conditioning the mind to not accept the view that “it can’t be done.” While studying in both undergraduate and graduate school, I’ve learned to see opportunity where others see void, solutions rather than problems, and, no matter how hard it gets, I’ve learned to persevere, adapting quickly from lessons-learned along the way. I am genuinely excited by and passionate about learning opportunities; where education and learning works simultaneously. Whether someone is seeking a more formal education environment or no-traditional approach; we should all continuously seek for development opportunities to grow as a person.

Recently, I learned a new concept that fuses education with learning practices that we all use on a daily bases. This concept is called microlearning, which is a holistic approach for skill based learning/education which deals with relatively small learning units. It involves short-term-focused strategies especially designed for skill based understanding/learning/education. If you are someone who does not see that value in education, I would encourage microlearning as an alternative.

Below are a few quotes about the value of education:

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world” -Nelson Mandela

“Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today” – Malcolm X

“Education is what remains after one has forgotten what one has learned in school.” – Albert Einstein
