The birds have started chirping, there are people walking around in the streets, everyone seems happy and then\u2026 oh wait\u2026 what\u2019s that noise? A forklift? A crane? Oh right, it\u2019s also construction time for Michigan\u2019s roads.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-23969 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.challengedetroit.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/2015-construction-i-35e-st-paul-20190404111639-44755700-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Michiganders have discovered that, when the birds come out, so do the trucks. After a winter of flat tires and salt stuck to our cars, clothes, shoes and floor mats, construction trucks seem like a welcome sight. With the forklifts comes weather worth leaving the house for, patios to sit and drink\u2026and eat on; bonfires to light and roast marshmallows by, and flowers to walk through and smell. Not being able to drive on the roads gives Detroiters an excuse to leave the car at home, get on a bike, or on your feet, and explore the hidden gems that are making Detroit a more pedestrian-friendly city.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Some of my favorite places to walk\/bike in Detroit are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul style=\"text-align: left\">\n<li>The riverfront<\/li>\n<li>The Dequindre Cut<\/li>\n<li>Eastern Market<\/li>\n<li>Belle Isle<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Some of the best outdoor patios in Detroit are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul style=\"text-align: left\">\n<li>Motorcity Wine<\/li>\n<li>Northern Lights<\/li>\n<li>Ottava Via<\/li>\n<li>Mudgie\u2019s Deli<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Some of the other outdoor activities I look forward to in Detroit:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul style=\"text-align: left\">\n<li>Movies\/concerts in Beacon Park<\/li>\n<li>Reading on the \u201cbeach\u201d in Campus Martius<\/li>\n<li>Exploring the shopping in Capitol Park<\/li>\n<li>Watching the Tigers at Comerica Park<\/li>\n<li>Walking anywhere and everywhere<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Spring is one of the best times to explore, and can be a great way to get some light exercise.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Just remember, it\u2019s Michigan, so bring a raincoat.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It seems as if everyone is finally coming out of hibernation.
