For our first challenge of the 2024-2025 program year, we collaborated with\u00a0Black Leaders Detroit (BLD)<\/a>, a nonprofit that provides no-interest loans and grants for Black-led businesses and organizations located in Detroit. Five teams of Fellows created recommendations and tangible work products to support the volunteer recruitment, volunteer engagement, in-person rider recruitment, \u201cride-your-own-way\u201d recruitment and membership recruitment for the 2025 Ride for Equity, a five-week fundraising ride taking place late May to early July. The teams worked with the amazing BLD team \u2013 Dwan Dandridge, Sharea Ayers, Tiana London-Harris, Carrie Smith, Jarod Pratt and Larenz Studavent. Ride Your Own Way<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

How can we Ride Our Own Way while maintaining a consistent theme and language when faced with numerous options for support and contribution? How do we foster an emotional connection to an event occurring hundreds or even thousands of miles away? These are some of the questions that emerged during our discussions with Black Leaders Detroit staff and stakeholders, demanding thoughtful answers and valuable insights.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ball Your Own Way, Yoga Your Own Way, Zumba Your Own Way, Ride YOUR OWN WAY! The Ride-Your-Own Way initiative invites you to participate in the 2025 Ride For Equity from anywhere in the US or around the globe. Equity is not solely a Black issue; it is a human issue. Together, we can reshape the narrative for future generations and unite in the Ride for Equity.<\/span><\/p>\n
